In order to support the high speed growth, PEER China now invites high caliber personnel to take up the position of Metallurgy Lab Manager. The position will be located in Shanghai or Xinchang and report to the Director of Engineering.
Job Summary
· The Metallurgy Lab Manager is fully responsible for Metallurgy Lab operation.
· The Metallurgy Lab Manager's role is to build up Metallurgy Lab capabilities around rolling, forging, heat treatment etc. so to support organization for product development, quality improvement, cost reduction activity etc.
· The Metallurgy Lab Manager is the main gatekeeper for drawing conclusion and making recommendation regarding material and heat treatment. He/She is the main interface to internal and external customers for interpreting metallurgy test result.
Key Responsibilities
· The Metallurgy Lab Manager is responsible for Metallurgy Lab daily operation, including setting up procedures, work instructions for metallurgy tests, equipment maintenance, safety etc.
· Identify the competencies that need to be built up in the Metallurgy Lab for fulfilling the organization's needs. Identify the gaps and plan the actions for filling up the gaps.
· Execute metallurgy tests.
· Draft and release test report.
· Interpret test report to internal and external customers.
· Draw conclusions based on test report and give recommendation to internal and external customers.
· Participate Product Development project, supplier improvement project etc. actively and contribute the projects with metallurgy expertise.
· Lead and develop engineers working in the Metallurgy Lab.
· Participate material and heat treatment network/associations; work with universities and suppliers etc. so to keep the knowledge stay state-of-the-art.
Required Experience, Knowledge and Skills
· Bachelor or Master Degree in forging, or material science w/metals emphasis.
· Minimum 8 years working experience in material and heat treatment field, with forging practical experience is highly preferred.
· Strong knowledge on forging, rolling, heat treatment processes, knowledge about stainless steel will be a plus.
· Experience on material selection, failure analysis etc.
· Strong communication skill when interpreting result with internal and external customers.
· Leadership and project management skill.
· Structural and proactive thinking.
· Proficient in both English and Chinese
